Israel Museum and Dead Sea Scrolls 7-12-13

We got out early and were basically the only people at the museum which was nice.  If you were a Seinfeld watcher back in the 90's. you'll remember the episode where George is all about finding a good parking spot and does not want to move his car because he got a good spot.  Well, the same story is true here in Jerusalem.  Parking is CRAZY!  They have even made parking spaces on the sidewalks, not kidding.  People on motorcycles think they can go anywhere, like they have the golden pass.  They may hop a curb, squeeze between two busses that are vying for a lane or swerve around pedestrians like it is some kind of video game for points.  All this to say, we go the best parking space at the museum because we were there first!
The museum holds the Dead Sea Scrolls, the jars they were found in and pictures of the people that found them.  No pictures are allowed so you won't see any here.  You will have to come to Jerusalem yourself.
There is a model of the city of Jerusalem during the time of Jesus.  This model is not big it is enormous. When you see it in the pictures and I tell you that the entire thing had to be moved due to a new construction site, you won't believe it.  I think our guide said it took about two years to moved the whole thing.  I would guess it is about 40 yards wide and about 20 yards across.  The people that moved it must have been the most patient people on earth.  It took two years for them to move it and reassemble it....yikes!
