Rabbinical Tunnels

The reason that you only see a small portion of the Western Wall is because the Muslims built houses right on top of it.  The Jews found a way to still access the wall by digging out tunnels that extend the length of the wall.  This tour was one of the most interesting things we have ever done.  Just to think that the whole world is operating on top of these tunnels is crazy.  The Jews have access to the wall and the women don't do not. However, the women have like a viewing room over the area that is underground and they can watch the men as they pray below them.  I know this sounds kind of strange but it was really perfect.  The women have a really nice area with about 3 rows of stadium type seating for a nice movie theatre and they too are praying.  It was very comfortable and quiet.  I liked it very much.
The guide we had was very knowledgeable and made the tour even better.  We got to a point were the guide asked it anyone would like to put a prayer in the wall like the Jews do on the outside wall. There were several pieces of paper in the wall already, so we all did.  God does read all languages!!
The tunnel was nice and cold which was sweet relief from the sun.  Although the past two days have not been as bad at all.  Jerusalem being up higher it is cooler than Galilee.
We ended the tunnel tour and met our guide to go see station #2 and #1 that nobody can visit.
