The Druse people have about 100,000 followers in Israel. Around the world there are about 20,000 more. Not very many indeed. You cannot "join" the Druse religion, you have to be born of a mother that is a Druse already. They marry among themselves, never outside their belief. They expect their messiah to be born of an elderly male. The older men all wear baggy slit crotch pants and have to have mustaches. The split pants are in case that male is chosen to be the instrument to deliver their messiah. They are very nice people. We had lunch in one of their villages and they welcomed us like an Italian man in the middle of Little Italy in NYC into his restaurant and started bringing us food that we did not ask for but he thought we needed to try. By the time he was finished bringing small bowls of things to try our table could have fed everyone in the village and we had not ordered our lunch yet. So nice. They had Coke, D
iet Coke and Coke Zero...a very Coca-Cola kind of village so we were have to drink down the Cokes and enjoy the lunch. One thing of great interest. The bread that the Druse people make is most likely the unlevened bread of Jesus' time. Today Jews eat Mattzah at Passover, this is better. It only takes 20 seconds to cook on their dome shaped pots with a white hot fire under it. It makes a giant paper thin piece of "bread".
