Bangkok, Thailand

We are fine. There will be more stories about wonderful experiences in Bangkok but this stood out as something unusual and terrible.

We were on a tour and got into a traffic "jam". The "jam" was a wreck between a car and a motorcycle. Motorcycles and scooters or the like are all the rage here and a very economic mean of travel. In the US, if there is a traffic accident that involves a fatality, an ambulance comes to the scene and takes the victim away before they let traffic pass by. It seems, in Thailand, this is not the case. Kathleen took this photo out the window of our bus. Life and death, co-existing, a victim on the pavement and us on tour, within minutes of the accident. Looking at the people that ride motorcycles in Thailand and many of the Asian countries we have visited, helmets are not required. If they are, people simply ignore the law. This is a horrible photo to put on our family website but is a real life lesson. Anyone riding such a vehicle, WEAR A HELMET!!!
