The art of the Flamenco Dance!! We were fortunate enough to be able to have a local company come on our ship to perform. The costumes and music and dancing caused everyone in the theatre to clap along with them and enjoy their wonderful show. The women were beautiful and their leading man was cross between Ricky Martin and Julio Iglesis. Hips like Ricky and smoothness of Julio. His stomping feet felt like thunder in the ship! It was a wonderful show that turned into a fantastic show, when this matador of a Flamenco dancer came off the stage to choose the lady of his liking to join him for a whirl at learning the Flamenco steps!! Guess who the lady he chose was?? Kathleen Welden! And she went up on that stage not even reluctantly, sort of with a skip in her step!! Who wouldn't? This guy was one hunk of a Flamenco man!
Kathleen was able to keep up with his very fast feet. It was like dualing banjos, only there were no banjos, they used their feet. Everytime he did a step she had to repeat it for him and the audience to critique!! She was a hit! She never missed a beat. All those dance classes at sea sure have paid off!! Although, Flamenco was never offered, she picked it up well. It the end of the routine, he wanted her to turn around and do a Ricky Martin like move and she shook her head no, that was the right answer and the crowd thought so too. He gave her a hug and off she went, a little sweaty on her own right and a lot sweaty from her Flameco man holding on to her!! She said "mom, he was WET"!!!
No better way to end a fun evening than with Karoke. Here is Nick with his friends singing Surfin' USA.
